Are you a Candidate for Facial Skin Resurfacing?

Sadly, time can take its toll on our skin. Sun exposure, genetics, diet, smoking, and environmental pollutants are just a few of the factors that can contribute to aging facial skin. :

How Does a Deep Chemical Peel Work?

We always assess your skin prior to this procedure to ensure you are a good candidate, so that you’ll receive the best results possible.

At Chadwell Facial Plastic Surgery, we use a phenol-based chemical solution. First, we numb your facial skin.  Then, we will cleanse your face, removing any grease and/or impurities. The solution is gently brushed onto the skin. It’s normal for patients to experience a minor burning or stinging sensation while the process sets. To help cool your skin and prevent dryness, we will apply a dense coating of cream to protect the healing skin and relieve any discomfort.

During the recovery process patients may feel some mild stinging and burning for up to 6 to 8 hours, but if you follow Dr. Chadwell’s instructions carefully, you will experience minimal downtime and maximum results:

• Prescribed pain medication or acetaminophen can be used for pain
• Pain should be alleviated within 24 hrs, but itching, tightness, and moderate swelling will occur – patients must liberally apply a dense cream over peeled areas of skin daily for one week
• Skin peeling and crusting will occur over several days – keep these areas moist with the dense cream
• For six weeks following the procedure, facial skin will be pink – makeup can be used to diminish this effect
• Patients are encouraged to sleep on their back, keeping their head elevated
• Antivirals and antibiotics will be prescribed to prevent infection and promote maximum results
