Mini Cooper, Mini-Me, Minibar – don’t minimize the power of the mini – hence the term “small but mighty.” Sometimes we aren’t ready or in need of the max. This is especially true when considering plastic-surgery options. This is where mini lift face procedures come in.

Rather than a full facelift to remedy the signs of aging and loose or sagging skin, certain candidates can opt for a mini facelift, and achieve amazing and positive results, and in many cases – experience a shorter recovery period.

What Exactly is a Mini Lift Face Procedure?

mini lift faceA mini facelift addresses some of the same issues as a full facelift: loose skin and/or excess fat in the neck, the appearance of sagging jowls and general loose skin in the lower part of the face. The mini facelift, however, is less invasive and best suited to those who have minimal to moderate facial sagging.

For example, a mini facelift surgery may be considered more along the lines of a step for maintaining appearance, targeted toward those hoping to recapture their youthful neck and jawline.

If you’re curious as to whether you are a good candidate for a mini facelift, opposed to a full facelift, candidates generally:

  • Have sagging skin on the neck and lower two-thirds of the face
  • Typically have minimal to moderate facial sagging (overall)
  • Are in good health
  • Don’t smoke
  • Have realistic expectations of mini lift facial surgery results

It’s worth mentioning before entering into any plastic surgery procedure, how imperative it is to receive a consultation from a Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon.

Dr. Jon Chadwell, for example, in addition to being board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery specializes exclusively in facial plastic surgery. During a consultation he will consider the individual and specific shape, features, contours, shadowing, proportion, depth and more of your face, when helping you determine if a mini or full facelift is right for you.

If you qualify for a mini lift facial surgery, the procedure will be conducted under general anesthesia, intravenous sedation or local anesthesia with oral sedation. After making the necessary incisions and repositioning the skin and soft tissues of the face and neck, Dr. Chadwell will close the incisions with sutures and surgical clips. Not only will this allow for optimum healing, scars will be virtually unnoticeable.

In terms of recovery, patients can expect:

  • Swelling, bruising and minor pain immediately following the procedure
  • Bandaging around the face and neck to help minimize swelling
  • Avoiding clothing required to go over the head, or in a way that would interfere with incisions
  • A compression garment to be worn around the face and neck for the first week, and nightly for the first-month post procedure

As for results, take a look at Dr. Chadwell’s before and after photos. Patients are often pleased with the minimum recovery time and the maximum results. Once healed, the majority of our patients enjoy a youthful, natural and vibrant appearance for years to come.
